Yesterday the 20th of January marked the 25th year since her death. It feels so long ago but in reality, it really wasn't so long ago. Audrey Hepburn suffered from abdominal cancer and passed away on the 20th of January 1993. She was just 63 years old. She began acting and modeling at a young age. The late 40s to the early 50s. From the 50s-- starring in Gigi she then moved on to star in Roman Holiday as Princess Anne alongside the actor Gregory Peck in 1953. Audrey won an oscar for best actress in this movie and from there starred in many more well known films to date. However, Audrey Hepburn was just known for her acting. She was the most elegant, kind, gentle, friendly, caring and genuine individual in the entire world and the Hollywood industry. Dozens of people adored her and she was known to be a joy to be around. Audrey came from an aristocratic background but also suffered from WW2. She was also an aspiring ballerina before she decided to do acting. These events played a role in shaping who she became and how she acted. Her fashion sense was also marvelous. She sported a classic sense of style and never followed tends. She was her own self. Her own wise self and that was what made her special. Upon finding out about her when I was 15, I was immediately struck by her personality and her fashion sense. I felt like I finally found someone I could truly relate and look up to. Someone like me.
Audrey's death was sudden. She was such an amazing inspirational person. Such a selfless person--especially while she was a UNICEF ambassador--that she did not deserve to die at such an early age. I only wish that more people recognized her and really truly looked up to her. The world still needs some AUDREY HEPBURN!
RIP Audrey Hepburn...you will always be cherished in our hearts.
