Staying in line with some themes from last week's Music and Movies submission, here are my listenings of the week. Some German but in the Christian sense (which surprised me that I found it quite modern, and this song especially sounded a little like a CantoPop song--so that drew me in)--there is also a sense of new yet calm (with lots of acoustics)--or Brit RockPop (which I have quite a taste for)--Joan Baez and her folksy songs--staying in line with my love for the acoustics and deep messages...Then a french song based on a classic by Flaubert called Madame Bovary that I recently read in class! Always love it when pop culture refers to the classics. :D

Halsey - "Finally// Beautiful Stranger"

Harry Styles - "Adore You"

Joan Baez - "Diamonds and Rust"

Clara Luciani - "Bovary"

Outbreakband, Glaubenszentrum Live - "Gott und König"

Film:

The Holiday: I always love a good classic Christmas movie. For this specific film--I have watched it two or three time before--a few years ago--but when I saw it this time--it felt all new--and I managed to catch more of the details and understand the film more that I did in the past. I found this film on Netflix as I looked for a good Christmas film to watch. All over, it was filled with dozens of rather cheesy/romantic Christmas movies that seemed most predictable most times. That's why I chose to watch this film out of the many listed. This film could still be identified under the cheesy/romantic category but it was executed most gracefully in the realistic sense--with ups and downs--and most of all--self search and engagement with the world. The events that occurred fit the place and time--and most of all, I felt like I could identify with the character Iris.
