I'm going 90s this week. Veryyy 90s.

I recently watched the film "Definitely Maybe", and found the plot surprisingly interesting--no idea why I've been holding back from watching it for so long. I've recently filled my time with watching dozens of romance movies on Youtube and Netflix and am becoming more and more critical of this difference in acting. Hallmark movies are fun and do fulfil this yearn for a lighthearted escape from reality but the acting just doesn't feel as genuine and I can't seem to find relatability with the actors--I just end up easily predicting the plot and forwarding to the ending often. With Hollywood romantic movies--I've watched my fair share of romantic movies that the plot is now easily predictable to me but what does draw me in is the character development. It is the unpredictability of the characters' reactions--words that get me drawn to the story. Nevermind that--I had to get it off my chest--but in line with today's blog post--there was a particular song reoccuring in the film "Definitely, Maybe" that got my attention.

It's "Come As you Are" by Nirvana.

It's a cool grungy listen--I feel quite fitting for my 20s self. Give it a listen!

Next, in line with this 90s vibe I'm currently into--

"Say You'll Be There" The Spice Girls

Okay--that's all the new 90s songs I can come up with. On another note, I randomly came across this song again on YouTUbe suggestions--it's not my first time listening to this song nor is it my first time viewing this MV but I feel this song should be given a listen. It's deep and meaningful. THe melody is smooth and makes you feel like you're travelling--it feels perfect for a "coming-of-age" film.

"Have You Ever Seen the Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival

It's a song from 2009 and I want to give this song a shoutout...I miss this smooth jazzy pop vibe of the early 2000s. Maroon 5 is one example with their songs--"She Will Be Loved" & "This Love". GIve this gal a listen! Her song has quite the soul in it!

"Trouble Sleeping" by Corinne Bailey Rae

Back to the present.

The other day, I came across a comment on Instagram remarking on how Harry Styles should have been a 70s rock star. Heck! I couldn't agree more. His style is the perfect mashup between that 70s rock sound with today's upbeat pop. For those who want to listen to new songs but can't seem to get rid of this enamoration of classic music--here's one for you:

"Golden" by Harry Styles

MOVIES!!!

So from what you may have read--"Definitely, Maybe" is worth checking out.

Another that some of you may have already watched--"My Best Friend's Wedding"
