"Nobody Gets Me" - SZA (Cover by Queen Charlotte Series)
Wistful. Wistful. Wistful. That's all I could think whilst I listened to this tune following a 6hr binge of the series. Though I'm not a huge fan of modern songs, I slowly developed an affinity for the Bridgerton world's instrumental takes on contemporary songs. The performers seemed to have so successfully intuitively noted each and every change and addition to the most minute detail of a song, and created something timeless.
"Slip Away" - Paul Mescal
I was drawn in to the raw quality of the actor Paul Mescal's voice in this clip for the film/musical Carmen. Though a rather short song, the sounds were crisp, the tension and wistful attributes of Mescal's character shined as he played the guitar. It is also important to note how impressively he plays the tabs, as he had to learn to play the particular instrument for this film. It introduced me to this film, and I am looking forward to the day it comes out in England.
"Little Sister" - LOL Original Film Soundtrack
Image the immense excitement I felt when, due to YouTube algorithm and autoplay, i was introduced to this long-awaited publication of one of my favourite movie tunes. There's something magical, something timeless and relatable, so nostalgic about this song. It is clear why it is so adored, and I only wish more people knew of this film. Also, genuinely content that this official version, 9 year late, is much much longer.
Films/Series
"Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story"
I could say so much more about this series, and perhaps an entire article on this series is due. For now, I shall remark on its particular pull. Authenticity, and drama characteristic of any Shonda Rhimes production. Simply beautiful.
"One Fine Morning"
With an article on the film on its way, I can only hint at how heartwarming and welcoming this film felt. I absolutely adored its color scheme, characteristic Frenchness, realism, and simplicity. If you adore a little bit of humor, hard truth, spontaneity, and family. This one's for you.
